2020 Bathroom Trends

Durable and sleek

The bathroom certainly shines for its usefulness, but also for the comfort and relaxation it provides. Just like cooking, it is an extension of ourselves and must reflect our lifestyle and personality. Check out emerging trends before embarking on bathroom decoration or renovation plans. With the array of trends, it is impossible not to find one that suits one’s style. The 2020 decor promises a strong personality and character. We create atmospheres that will not disappear after a few seasons. We focus on balance, durability and authenticity in a practical setting that promotes relaxation.

An Eco-Friendly Cabinet

One of the trends in 2020 will be the uncluttered vanity, rather than a massive furniture. Recovered vintage furniture is popular, whether in an ecological or decorative spirit. Drawer chests, work benches, consoles, old farm tables-- they can all be transformed into vanity units. These washbasins provide an illusion of grandeur for small bathrooms and create extra space if you're dreaming of a larger bathtub and/or shower. We favour comfort over storage space. It will therefore be necessary to choose only essential items and if necessary, integrate some decorative shelves to store items used daily. We favour basins with a natural look and raw materials such as stone, marble or concrete, with a basin easy to integrate into the spruced-up furniture. As faucets are in the limelight, the plumbing of the vanity focuses on gold, matte black or copper.

Bath and Shower Become One

The Italian shower is back and is now multifunctional. Its open design is inspired from an old trend which includes the bath in the shower, but in a much more modern version. Another more innovative idea is to align the shower with the bath. The slatted floor of the shower runs along the wall and under the bathtub creating a spa effect. In the same vein, we are offered glass walls and black metal borders to create a separation between the bath/shower area and the rest of the space, reminiscent of the divisions in European lofts. The year 2020 will charm us with the freestanding bath. Versatile, it can be placed in the centre of the room, near a wall or in a corner. We are seduced by the modernity of its lines and its ease of integration with all types of decors. Its standing plumbing is often a few inches away, enhancing your bathroom’s look. Match it with the vanity faucet, and you're done!

Ceramic is Here to Stay

This year, we focus on ceramic that will not become outdated. We favour subtlety over extravagance as much for the bathroom floor as for its walls. The tendency is to go for dynamic textures and reliefs. The year 2020 focuses on shades of gray, black and neutral tones palette. Oversized 48"x 24" ceramic models make a striking debut on the bathroom floor. This format allows you to visually enlarge a small room. We love cement or natural stone imitations. It’s hard to tell them apart! Their roughness fits perfectly with the natural inclination around the 2020 trends. Concrete has been at the top of the charts for several seasons. It now comes in wall panels, slabs and tiles. Concrete is an economical and durable choice, and it will add character to your bathroom.
